A sad part of our history is the passing of our friend and founding bandmember Mark Marchant, who died on August 26th, 2006 at the age of 52 years. Mark held a Master's Degree from University of New York at Buffalo in Fine Arts, Percussion Performance. Along with his education and years of teaching experience came an extremely high level of musical experience and skill. Mark played timpani and percussion with Erie's Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra, Ballet, and Opera Theater Orchestra. He was also a highly regarded conga player, well-versed in Latin and Afro-Caribbean rhythms and styles. In addition to the Tribe, Mark played for many years with Key West Express, adding percussion to summer-music rock and pop covers. Many students benefited from Mark's skill and expertise, including musicians at D'Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst College, and many local and regional High Schools and Colleges. He was well known for patience and clarity, and One World Tribe was the recipient of these virtues as well as many others. We also remember him for his incredible organization skills, vital during a critical time in the band's business development. We are all grateful for the time we were allowed to share with this member of our Tribe, and we wish him and his family peace. Memorials can be made to the following organizations.
