In his own words:
I played grade school football with Kennedy Thompson. Of course, he was a line-man so whenever Ken played defense you pretty much let him go by you and whenever he was on offense you shot through his legs before he knew the ball was snapped. Ken was really only focused on those grade school cheerleaders anyway.
My brother Erik and I heard that he was forming a band so we went down to the early rehearsals in his basement. Ken wanted Erik to be the frontman and I just came along to hear about Ken's conquests with the cheerleaders. I think we practiced the same 4 songs for about 3 years. Brad Amidon will vouch for that. I don't think we ever played some of them live.
I watched the family be born one at a time. By the first gig there was a chemistry with those first members that is rare. We stayed together for years without a single personel change which is unheard of from that type of band.
OWT will always exist on some level. As a wise man named Preach used to say at the beginning of gigs, "We are One World Tribe and YOU are One World Tribe and that's the human family. Can you dig?" And as a streetwise sage named Funkystroke used to say, "I'm One World. You Tribe".[ top ]
